Architectural Excellence : R.I.’s CONTOWER is a redeployable shelterized telescopic tower, which is used in both civil and defence sectors. This innovative system can be applied for several uses such as:
- Contower Lighthouse for safety of naval operations;
- Contower Telecommunication for safe communications in extreme conditions;
- Contower Weather station for the detection of severe weather alerts;
- Contower Air Traffic Control for air traffic management safety;
- Contower Pollution Detection for detection of environmental pollutants;
- Contower Video Surveillance for intelligent observation system.
Contower is 8 meters tall and it is stacked up to the 3rd floor. Contower is designed to accomodate two or more persons, it has included a Telescopic hydraulic system with cabin hydraulic lifting by means of pistons to fit on any ground condition. There is a Gateway placed at the base of the tower to get into the armoured cabin and it is equipped by internal staircase.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : CONTOWER is part of the new generation of mobile eco-sustainable solutions produced by RI that can literally be built anywhere and compared to the traditional towers in concrete it can be deployed in 10 minutes. Furthermore, R.I.’s Contower compared to traditional construction methods, generates less waste and has a much smaller impact on the environment by using recyclable materials. The material is low-maintenance and resistant to corrosion.

Technical Innovation : This automated telescoping system can be controlled and monitored remotely. In transport configuration, CONTOWER has the same specifications and dimensions of an ISO20(1C) type container, so it can be easily transported by truck, train and ship, an important advantage as relocatable shelter.
Furthermore, the container is designed and sized to be transported by the C130 J Aircraft and helicopter. The container is also equipped by 4 hydraulic pistons placed at its 4 corners, which allows off loading from the lorries in an autonomous way during the transport/handling configuration. The system also works as a stabiliser in fully operational configuration.
