Architectural Excellence : M SPACE first worked with Classical Academy in 2010, and provided them with a temporary modular campus after they received their charter. By 2014, they had out grown their campus and were in need of a permanent solution. Having been so satisfied with the quality and customer service of their initial experience, they contacted M SPACE to design and construct their new permanent school.
M SPACE worked with the School district to design a 50,000 square foot modular school that would accommodate K-12 students. The U shaped floor plan has dedicated elementary, middle and high school wings. The school consists of classrooms, a library, art rooms, music rooms, science labs and administrative offices. The school has several upgraded features including nine foot t-grid ceilings, carpet tiles, fiberglass reinforced plastic panels and a white EPDM roof.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Classical Academy reduced operational costs by installing the high efficiency heat pump, white roof, individual thermostats and light sensors. Each of these items allows the school to consume less energy, resulting in ongoing savings. Additional savings were realized by having as much construction as possible completed in the factory. The sprinkler system and ceiling were both pre-installed, resulting in less onsite work and reduced labor costs. Lastly, a traditional modular foundation was used eliminating the need for a crane and the associated expense.

Technical Innovation : The site was engineered with all entrances at ground level, eliminating the need for steps or ramps. Built-in gutters were custom designed and hidden behind double angled mansard. To complete the aesthetic look, HardiPlank siding was used on the front of the building and a site built portico was added. In addition, the school is equipped with cutting edge technology such as fiber optic wiring, smart boards in every classroom and a lockdown system. To conserve energy, the school installed a high efficiency heat pump and a white roof that reflects the sun and absorbs less heat. In addition, thermostats were installed in each classroom, which allow heat and conditioned air to be adjusted based on occupants and light sensors in each restroom, which only use energy when the restrooms are occupied.
