Architectural Excellence : In the summer of 2010 the Public Works (PW) Utility Administration Department began planning for the construction of a new permanent PW Utility Administration building to replace their existing temporary office building. The city’s project team researched several different building construction options including, stick built, prefabricated, and modular construction. Of the various building construction options, modular construction was the lowest cost per square foot and the best overall value. Pacific Mobile began production of the 7,489 sq. ft. Administration Building in September 2011. The building was designed to conform to the natural topography of the local park and river. Some of these features include natural wood log entry columns, custom timber frame canopies, stamped and stained concrete entry slabs and river rock wainscot around the perimeter of the building. This project was a complete full turnkey including excavation, irrigation, landscaping and concrete flatwork.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The building has 5 separate split system units installed to better control the amount of waste in the areas that are not occupied on a full time basis. Built to the 2009 Energy Code, low flow toilets and urinals were installed along with automatic room occupancy sensors throughout. Low flow toilets and urinals and 15 minute timers were also installed on all of the exhaust fans in the restrooms. Large exterior windows and skylights were used to harvest the natural light.
