Church Point Clinic Expansion
Additional Info
Award Winner : Boxy LLC
Architectural Excellence : Uses two modules with a shared hallway to optimize number of patient rooms with provider office. Modules do not used doubled up walls, so they are more efficient. Looks like the existing building when finished. It's an expansion on an existing structure.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : The type of clinic is a rural health clinic. As in the name, rural health clinics are typically built in rural places with low population density. It can be difficult to find trades and travel time to the job site is long due to it being so far out. Building the building in the largest metro area offers a way to keep labor close and prevent the need for superintendents on job sites all the time.
Additionally, using roll forming automation this process will be further automated in factory with 80-90% less waste and 10-15% less framing materials wasted. Like mentioned above, removal of doubled up walls is 50% more efficient that conventional framing techniques for modular buildings. This also removed the need for trusses which would have created additional waste. Overall, this was a very efficient modular small build.

Technical Innovation : Use of the shared walls in a volumetric design is the most efficient. Each of the exterior walls is a load bearing wall, so that is also extremely efficient. Lifting of light gauge steel is difficult, so our proprietary lift reinforcement system allows us to do what few other people do with modular.
