Architectural Excellence : This project was built to provide training facilities and “home away from home” accommodations at a remote drilling location. This unit was designed to cold weather/winter specifications and included an upgraded package of interior and exterior materials and equipment.
Community concerns about the facility meant that it was critically important that the finished product blend into the environment. The site includes ball fields and walking trails. The facility includes: 144 semi-private rooms, shared bathroom and shower facilities for each 44 man complex, 10 unit kitchen/dining facility with 178 person setting capacity, 60’ x 60’ training facility, 13’ x 60’ commercial laundry facility. Special features were included to give the facility a “homey” feel, including a large TV lounge and a recreation facility with weight lifting equipment, pool tables and a computer area.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : Units were built to maximize living space but keep transportation costs to a minimum. Keeping the width under 14’ allowed transportation costs to be reduced as it eliminates the need for an escort during transportation in most states. The facility is insulated with R-21 for the exterior walls and R-38 for the floor and roof which maintains indoor temperatures without having to constantly change the thermostat. This reduces the energy consumption of the facility. The lodge is furnished with Energy Star appliances – a government-backed designation which is only given to products that contribute significant energy savings.
