Architectural Excellence : This project consists of a 34,000 square foot multi-purpose training and administrative education center. The building exterior was comprised of hardipanel with site-applied stucco and featured a parapet wall with drainage system and scuppers.

The building was designed to be LEED Silver Compliant and was registered achieving a total of 21 points. Interior features consisted of granite countertops, slate and ceramic floor tile and a 6,000 sq ft. auditorium with a 300 sq. ft. SCIF secured communication system.

This project was a complete design/build to include total site restoration which resulted in the removal of a football field, a running track and exterior lighting. Exterior design was done to complement the surrounding buildings and to give the appearance of a permanent structure. With the parapet wall, the building was 19 feet from the ground, nicely integrating it with surrounding conventionally built structures.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Materials utilized consisted of 30% recycled carpet and recycled FFE lumber. The design implemented energy-efficient waterless urinal systems, and natural lighting. The insulation package exceeded 2009 IBC codes. Other cost effectiveness was realized when demolishing the site to prepare the building pad, the materials that were removed were recycled and reused. From the concrete base to the rubber asphalt track, materials were recycled. Exterior lighting was relocated and the goal posts were recycled. The building site design utilized existing parking and road infrastructure.

Technical Innovation : The fire sprinkler was a full system including a fire pump which was incorporated into the building design. Switch gear was also integrated into the design in a way to limit unsightliness. Additional engineering was done to support a secure information facility using steel mesh, double layer flooring and walls. Additionally, the building had a large quantity of fiber and data wiring residing within a cable tray system utilizing a space saving design in the roof engineering.
