Architectural Excellence : This building was part of a three classrooms set needed by Bethel School District to expand learning space throughout their school district. Bethel School District stressed the importance of natural light in the classrooms; our designers increased the window size and ceiling height to 9’ allowing for maximum daylight during the long northwest rainy season. The interior Forbo walls and large custom teaching wall casework with sliding whiteboards inside of the classrooms was matched to the existing building specifications to create a highly cohesive overall aesthetic.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : Higher insulation levels within the ceiling, walls, and floors help to reduce heating and cooling costs throughout the year. The building uses a highly efficient Daikin mechanical system with an energy recovery ventilator maximizing the air quality within the building and incurring additional energy savings. Daylight and motion sensors further assist with energy savings. On-site labor cost is lowered due to the modular construction method. Investments in higher-end materials used in the exterior and interior of the building lengthening the lifespan of the building.

Technical Innovation : The classroom features windows low e coating windows assisting with energy efficiency. CO2 sensors and low VOC wall paint ensure healthy air quality throughout the building. LED lights with enhanced lighting control use energy efficiently while providing ample light for the classrooms. A mix of eco-friendly Hardie panel and lap siding painted in bright coordinating Northwest colors was used on the exterior of the building to add to the durability and overall aesthetics of the structure. Unnecessary material waste and truck hauls were minimized by using modular construction.
