Archer City Temporary Classrooms
Additional Info
Award Winner : Aries Building Systems, LLC
Architectural Excellence : Located 25 miles southwest of Wichita Falls, Archer City, Texas is a small town with a modest population. The district serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
After securing $18M for a project to renovate existing school infrastructure and construct a new school, Archer City ISD approached Aries with one integral task: to provide exceptional, temporary modular classroom buildings for student and faculty occupancy during construction and renovation efforts.
Our final deliverable consisted of 2 state-of-the-art, 10-classroom buildings with all the services and amenities necessary conducive to a productive and comfortable learning environment. The modular buildings were landed within close proximity to the main school buildings to minimize travel time between classes.
Each 156’ X 64’ nominally-sized box module was constructed for dry/wet conditions and provisioned for safety, ease accessibility, and maximum efficiency.
Cost Energy Effectiveness : One of the most significant cost-cutting measures is our simultaneous in-house construction, on-site land prep methodology. We were able to maximize efficiency all while maintaining low-distraction preparation and installation environments. This all resulted in a significant reduction of inadvertent supplemental cost to Archer ISD by what would otherwise be a loss of faculty productivity.
Installation was as quick as delivering a building, placing it to spec on already-prepped land, inspecting the final landing via a rigorous checklist, and then providing the results to Archer ISD. Though our installation methods exceed expectations of permanent building location, if Archer ISD ever chooses to utilize our modular buildings elsewhere, their workload will be greatly reduced by a number of factors: 1) ease of access to the buildings and getting them off premises, 2) ease of uninstallation and transport, and 3) our ability to support them at any point during relocation plans/efforts.

Technical Innovation : Our delivery of technically innovative and sustainable buildings to Archer ISD began with our proprietary in-house building methods and choice of quality components to attain maximum efficiency/reusability, and ended with a superior installation/inspection process which minimized on-site disturbances.
All windows contain low E coatings so as to suppress heat flow, thus reducing the cost of cooling. Our choice of HVAC units with equipped heat pumps adds a dimension of spatial innovation and cost effectiveness. Also, because we were aware of Archer ISD’s plans going forward, our integrated design build team implemented a strategy allowing for easy modular expansion alongside possible future building relocation.
