Architectural Excellence : The construction of the AGIP KCO project was born out of a need for an expedited delivery and creativity due to confined space allowed on the man made D-Island.
The construction of the project was presented to the client utilizing modified 40’ sea containers that were to be utilized in a two story configuration to meet specific space restrictions and blast proof parameters. In order to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and functional occupancy the design utilized typical office and lunchroom configuration to provide a comfortable and attractive working environment.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : In all European countries, the cost of shipping is of huge concern that leads to creativity and pro-active planning for projects shipping across multiple countries; this issue lead to the use of standard sea containers as the design basis. The containers themselves utilize an integral and structural locking system that eliminates the need for site added components. The electrical system, communication systems and fire preventions system are connected using plug in type adaptors solving the economic issue of isolated field work.

Project Location City : Bautino

Technical Innovation : The design priority and basis for utilizing the sea container as the starting point for construction was to provide the client with specific design intent. The location of the office complex required a specific percussive blast resistance. The structural steel frame work of the sea container met this target along with the addition of specially designed doors and window to protect the occupant in case of a blast situation. The structural transition from the island to the modular complex was accomplished by utilizing reinforced concrete blocks with sea container lock pins. The concrete foundation was then mechanical fastened to the island through strategically placed structural steel and structural bolts. The entire modular complex is wired with fire proof wiring and fixtures.
