Architectural Excellence : Designed for use in the North American oil and gas industry, this new 12 unit drill camp was developed to meets increasing industry preferences in the most convenient, cost effective way.
The six unit drill camp is designed with 26 individual bedrooms, opposed to a typical camp with 14 shared bedrooms. When interconnected with a secondary camp, an innovative 12 unit self-contained drill camp is formed.
With a tremendous number of oil and gas employment opportunities to be filled in Western Canada, the standards for workforce accommodation has subsequently increased. The private washcar facilities and single bedrooms, increase appeal as occupant privacy has become a priority. In addition to privacy, the drill camp offers variety to its occupants. Alternative spaces are created by mirroring two identical units resulting in a complex containing two common dining and recreation areas.

Cost Energy Effectiveness : With typical drill camp facilities, the cost of creating private accommodation for up to 52 workers has been high due to the size of the complex required. Installation time and cost is significantly reduced when building a complex with these two, self-contained, six unit drill camps. Installation time is two to three days compared to two to three weeks for the conventional 49-Person dormitory, kitchen-diner and recreation complex scenario.

Technical Innovation : This unique design offers clients the option of two independent self-contained drill camps or a combined 12 unit self-contained drill camp. This versatility allows us to provide a larger self-contained camp without additional fleet such as large dormitories, separate kitchen-diner complexes or recreation areas.

With each module larger than conventional construction at 14’ x 60’, the size of the 12 unit complex required special design considerations to meet municipal code compliances. A firewall was provided with unique frames to allow the 12 unit complex to meet code compliances.

The design of the units had to accommodate the ability for any single module to be used in the specific six unit design as well as the larger twelve unit design. This included electrical and mechanical considerations.
