Welding Foreman

MODLOGIQ is seeking a skilled, certified, and dynamic Welding Foreman to lead our Structural Steel fabrication and assembly teams. This is a first-tier supervisory role for a "player-coach" who can manage complex projects while setting the highest standard for welding craftsmanship and safety.

As the Welding Foreman, you are responsible for the total execution of assigned projects—ensuring they are completed on time, on budget, and to specification. You will bridge the gap between management’s planning and the crew’s execution, taking full ownership of the Method of Construction (MOC) to ensure a seamless workflow.

The Welding Foreman is the primary supervisor for structural steel fabrication and on-site re-erection. They are responsible for delivering projects on time, on budget, and at high quality.

• Reporting: Reports directly to the Structural Steel Manager.

• Ownership: Must fully "buy-in" and execute the Method of Construction (MOC) plan, even if they didn't personally design it.

• Role Model: Must exhibit elite welding skills, a professional attitude, and a strong work ethic to set the standard for the crew.

Operational Responsibilities

• Project Execution: Layout, align, and secure parts; operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment; and handle materials using large cranes.

• Planning: Participate in MOC development and attend daily/weekly schedule and safety meetings.

• Sub-Trade Coordination: Manage subcontractors to ensure they follow the MODLOGIQ workflow while maintaining professional relationships.

• Communication: Maintain open lines between the crew and management; submit Construction Daily reports every evening.

Quality Control & Safety

• First Line of Defense: Act as the primary level of quality control by checking all welds against blueprints and specifications.

• Safety Enforcement: Authorized to stop any unsafe work immediately. Responsible for "Tool Box Talks," fire extinguisher training, and jobsite cleanliness.

• Weather Protection: Ensure all structures are weather-tight at the end of every shift.

Team Management & HR

• Supervision: Assign tasks, monitor performance, and mentor lower-level welders to help them achieve/maintain certifications.

• Evaluation: Assist in annual employee reviews and conduct time/efficiency studies.

• Resource Management: Ensure the crew has the tools and materials needed to work efficiently without repetitive mistakes.

Administrative & Financial

• Reporting: Submit job-related expense reports and receipts promptly.

• Profitability: Maintain company profitability through the smart deployment of labor and equipment.

• Inventory: Assist in the company’s annual inventory process.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Education

• Experience: Minimum 5 years in steel fabrication with previous supervisory experience.

• Certification: Current AWS D1.1 Certification is required.

• Education: High School diploma required (with strong math/geometry skills); Technical school or College preferred.

Technical Skills

• Blueprint Reading: Advanced ability to interpret complex structural prints, AWS symbols, and technical manuals.

• Mathematics: Proficient in construction math, including geometry, to calculate heights, clearances, and tolerances.

• Tools: Proficiency with construction calculators, calipers, squares, and various welding rigs.

Physical & Logistical Requirements

• Travel: Ability to travel to various sites to re-erect buildings, including occasional overnight stays.

• Environment: Comfortable working in loud plant environments and outdoor sites in all weather conditions.

• Status: Must be a US Citizen with a valid Driver’s License and a clean professional appearance.
