Senior Estimator

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to prepare, coordinate, and analyze cost estimates in a timely manner for the Sales Team to create clear, concise, and accurate bids for modular construction prospects. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of commercial construction estimators
• Collaborate with Sales to obtain pertinent data about projects being quoted
• Become well versed in the construction capabilities of the company to determine bid/no bid
• Conduct a detailed review of plans and specifications against sub-trade quotes, division by division, to confirm full spec coverage
• Develop and review the Scope of Work sheets for each project to protect company interests
• Double check all data entries into the cost estimate to avoid mistakes
• Interact with sub-trades for best price and compliance to spec
• Interface with Operations as needed to assure constructability to questionable specs or design
• Lead project post-mortems after award to compare estimate to actual costs and identify the high and low budgeted items
• Level sub-trade and vendor quotes against a common scope to confirm all bidders are pricing the same work and to flag any scope gaps or exclusions
• Manage and coordinate sub-trade RFI's and clarifications with the Estimating Team
• Perform a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and review with the Sales and Management Team to ensure a successful bid
• Prepare bid packages for sub-trades broken out by CSI division
• Produce timely, concise and accurate takeoffs organized by CSI division
• Properly schedule estimating activities to meet bid dates for each project
• Secure quotes from subcontractors and specialty vendors as necessary
• Work with the Sales/Estimating Team to meet tight deadlines for bids
• Work with the Sales Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Plant Manager to maximize profit margins for cost estimates based on backlog, project type and project size

• High school diploma or GED required (some college preferred)
• At least 5 years of construction estimating experience and 3 years in estimating, purchasing, or project management.
• Requires strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, materials, blueprint reading, bid specifications, attention to detail, confidentiality, and collaboration.
