Job Title: Estimator


Reports to: Senior Estimating Manager


Pacific Mobile is looking for a dynamic and versatile individual to become an integral part of our Pacific Northwest Construction Services team. Our CS team company wide, is a tight-knit group that manages $100 million worth of construction projects annually. Many of our projects are fast-paced, and we rely on each other to complete the project professionally and on budget.


These projects range from the placement of a standard stock factory-built structure to a complete turnkey permanent modular construction project. Your role as an estimator will be to oversee the estimating of projects assigned to you or work with a team on larger projects. We are seeking an individual who can provide accurate budgets and scopes of work to our internal sales team, project managers and external stakeholders.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000


You will be responsible for:


  • Collaboration with Sales, Project Management and Estimating staff to determine the project scope of work, create accurate estimates for modular buildings and site development construction projects.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the PMSI estimating spreadsheet tool.
  • Prepare budget estimates using the PMSI estimating spreadsheet tool.
  • Collaborate with Project Management staff as needed to determine the project execution plan.
  • Perform site visits as needed to clarify scope of work, etc.
  • Prequalify subcontractors that are new to Pacific Mobile Structures.
  • Prepare subcontractor scope of work documents, bid packages, and solicit proposals from subcontractors.
  • Create supplemental instructions to bidders based on project specific requirements to confirm coverage of entire scope of work.
  • Review subcontractor proposals to ensure they have included the entire intended scope of work.
  • Prepare estimates and publish for distribution to Salesperson.
  • Collaborate with Salesperson in the preparation of the Proposal and Scope of Work documents.
  • Participate in new order hand-off meetings (Estimating to Project Management).
  • Prepare schedule of values document for new orders and coordinate with accounting.
  • Learn the SIS/CE project management software as related to Estimate Docs and Project Management folders.
  • Prepare Project Change Order estimates as required based on information provided by the PM staff.
  • Participate in post-project job cost reviews of projects for lessons learned.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Sage estimating software.
  • Prepare budget estimates using Sage estimating software.
  • Prepare RS Means estimates as needed for building and site development projects using the Sage estimating software.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Have a sense of professionalism and urgency combined with a problem solving approach to completion of tasks.
  • Have a minimum 5 years of experience in estimating of wood framed constructed building projects (design experience is a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans & specifications, site development plans & specifications, and other related documents.
  • Must have the ability to visualize three-dimensional construction from a floor plan or sketch.
  • Perform material takeoffs of various aspects of building and site development plans.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must be able to adapt to our estimating software.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external team members.
