Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Director of Sales, Marketing, & Business Development with a proven track record and a leader-leader style, to guide our growing team. This role will be the senior department leader in the organization and responsible for providing steady, experienced leadership to an already strong group, coaching our sales and marketing managers as leaders, helping to develop further competencies, as well as to collaborate across functions to ensure alignment and cohesion throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will be comfortable embracing a leader-leader style that encourages independent thinking and creative collaboration, while maintaining a focus on actionable, measurable strategy deployment. The position will be expected to understand our customers and competitive landscape, while ensuring the company is well positioned to adapt to changing market conditions. The Director of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development will report to the Corporate Vice President.

Responsibilities

Leadership


  • Work with direct reports to identify gaps in skills needed in their roles and work together to develop their core competencies.
  • Set clear development goals for both the department and its leaders based on the needs of each, communicating clearing with milestones ensure mutual understanding.
  • Actively engage in coaching and mentoring sessions to aid direct reports in achieving their goals, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback.
  • Delegate responsibilities and key decisions to direct reports where they or their teams have most knowledge and competency, while coaching improvement where an increase in either is necessary to pass over control.

Strategy


  • Collaborate with managers in development of comprehensive business plans with outlined and measurable goals, strategies, and tactics to achieve company objectives, including financial, resource, and risk considerations.
  • Guide managers in market research to identify new opportunities and emerging trends.
  • Analyze and evaluate the potential for partnerships, alliances, and collaborations.

Relationship Building


  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including potential clients, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Participate in industry associations, conferences, and events as a visible leader.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to build & leverage relationships and cross-functional expertise.
  • Be a role model of company values, and nurture expected culture throughout the organization.

New Business Development


  • Identify and explore new business opportunities outside existing channel strategies that align and accelerate the company's growth objectives.
  • Support critical negotiations and closure of strategic partnerships, contracts, and agreements.

Revenue Growth


  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to drive revenue growth through new business initiatives.
  • Set and achieve revenue targets, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.
  • Monitor and analyze sales and business development metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration and Communications


  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, product development, engineering, operations, and finance.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership to provide updates on business development activities, opportunities, and challenges.

Position Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives that have resulted in sustained business growth.
  • Proficiency in market analysis, data interpretation, and trend identification.
  • Knowledge of the evolving trends, challenges, and opportunities within the construction and development markets.
  • A minimum of 10+ years' experience in building materials or construction industry, with 5+ years in a sales or marketing leadership position.
  • Proven track record of year-over-year growth with a minimum of $30M+ in revenue responsibility and oversight of multiple sales channels.
  • Familiarity with the distribution channels for building products or construction materials and/or the specification driven sales process is preferred.
  • Well-established network of contacts and relationships within the real estate development industry.
  • Exceptional ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely, both in written and verbal communication.
