Architect  - Modular Construction and Healthcare Projects

Architect must have extensive experience in modular healthcare design, construction documentation, modular fabrication, and construction administration.  This individual will serve as a technical leader on complex projects, ensuring design excellence, regulatory compliance, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.  The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge in healthcare design standards.  Individual must be self-motivated and highly effective   in an entrepreneurial environment while managing design consultants,  clients, modular fabricators, and vendors.  Must have proven skills required communicate at all levels to manage complex healthcare projects. This is a remote position however, travel to project sites, industry related trade shows, and manufacturing facilities will be required. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.


Project Design & Technical Leadership

- Lead the architectural design and planning of modular healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and specialty medical buildings

- Develop and oversee project concepts, layouts, and design strategies aligned with client goals and regulatory requirements

- Coordinate and integrate work of design consultants, including architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty medical planners

- Introduce AHJ’s on upcoming modular projects and educate on the third-party modular approval and factory QA/QC process

- Ensure designs comply with building codes, healthcare codes, standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., life safety, infection control,       

  patient flow)

- Provide technical leadership in modular/offsite construction methodologies, including prefabrication and manufacturing coordination

- Review and approve construction documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability

- Lead the coordination with  RAD Operations, modular manufacturers and equipment vendors to ensure alignment with design intent

- Manage and review shop drawings, submittals, and factory production for compliance

- Participate in prototype development, mock-ups, and testing of modular units

- Support permitting processes and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs)

- Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables


Client & Stakeholder Engagement

- Serve as a primary architectural contact for clients, particularly healthcare providers and facility teams

- Provide design leadership during client meetings, presentations, and workshops

- Coordinate with medical equipment planners and vendors to integrate clinical requirements into design

- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies


Contract Management

- Create consultant design scopes of work for healthcare and modular projects

- Issue and review RFP’s for consultant design scopes of work

- Prepare, issue, and execute RAD professional services proposals for RAD projects

- Prepare, issue, and execute design consultant agreements for RAD projects

 - Review all applications for payment and approve all owner and consultant agreements

- Coordinate all RAD schedule of value payments with RAD Administrator


Business Development Support

- Contribute to pursuit strategies for healthcare and modular projects

- Assist in preparing proposals, qualifications, and presentations for architectural services

- Support client interviews and preconstruction activities with technical expertise

- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and trade shows


Skills & Experience

- Registered Architect with 10 + years of experience

- Leed Accreditation desired but not required

- Significant experience in healthcare architecture and modular/offsite construction

- Strong knowledge of healthcare codes and standards (FGI Guidelines, NFPA, IBC, etc.)

- Advanced proficiency in Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows

- Experience with Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro for multidisciplinary coordination

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam for documentation and review

- Familiarity with project management and document control systems (e.g., Procore or similar)

- Strong understanding of construction documentation, specifications, and project delivery methods

- Experience coordinating with manufacturing environments and modular production processes

- Ability to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff

- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

- Excellent communication and presentation abilities across all levels of stakeholders

- Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

- Willingness and ability to travel as required
