Maryam Kouhirostami, Assistant Professor at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo will present: Offsite Design & Construction in Construction Programs

Wednesday, March 4, 2026 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EST)

Description

This presentation highlights why offsite design and construction should be embedded in Construction Management and Engineering curricula to better align education with how projects are increasingly delivered. It will summarize the course topics, materials, and resources—from modular and panelized systems to design coordination, manufacturing constraints, and site logistics. It will also emphasize the importance of strong industry partnerships to connect, learn, and share—ensuring the course content stays current and grounded in real project and factory practice.

MBI's Research & Development Council is a community of members and academics interested in learning about new and existing research on modular construction, identifying gaps in research, and creating new tools and resources for the industry.
